Bridges are used to replace missing teeth, either individually or where multiple teeth are missing from the same area. A traditional bridge is held in place by cementing crowns over the teeth either side of the gap being filled.

As traditional bridges require the teeth adjoining the gap to be crowned to support the bridge, those teeth need to be filed down. This can be avoided if dental implants are used to support the bridge.
